When Bella is about to die in the water, she is saved by Jacob. He pulls her out and brings her ashore. Sam and Jacob decide its best to bring her back to Jacobs. But Sam decides to go back to the hospital. Harry Clearwater has had a heart attack and passed away. Harry was one of Charlie's good friends. They are devestated and Jacob brings Bella home. When they are at Bellas house, Jacob shakes and says "vampire". The next second Bella notices Carlisle's car drive by. They dont know if it will be safe for Bella to sleep at home but she does anyways. When she enters her house she encounters a vampire, Alice Cullen. She is so happy to see her and lets Alice stay the night. Alice had come to see Charlie. This is because of the vision she saw of Bella jumping on the cliff, thinking she was dead. When Charlie comes home, he is happy to see Alice as well and has many deep conversations with her about Bella's feelings for Edward and what had happened in the past months. The doorbell rang and it was Jacob, Alice left because she can not see werewolves. Jacob says they can not be together always now because of Alice. Then Jacob answers a phone saying it was a Cullen asking for Charlie (who is at the funeral). When he leaves, Alice knows that something is wrong with Edward. Edward thinks Bella is dead and is off to Italy where the Volturi's are. Bella and Alice are now off to Italy. When they get off the place, there is a Porsche waiting for them. Alice had stole it but they dont have much time. The city will be packed because it's St. Marcus Day. Alice tells Bella they need to go to Palazzo dei Priori before Edward enters the sunlight. As the clock ticks, she spots him and finally convinces him that they are alive. They are too late to escape and the Volturi arrive. They follow them into a small drain and into a room. They are all frightened and if it wasnt for Alice's vision then they wouldnt have been where they are.

pages 278-363

Bella woke up to a scratching sound on her window. It was Jacob. He came to apologize and to talk to Bella. They have deep conversations about "secrets" and the Cullens. Jacob is trying to tell Bella something but is letting her figure it out for herself. That night she has a dream of Jacob in the forest, and wakes up screaming. She then realizes that Jacob is a werewolf. Which means that the La Push pack are all werewolves. The next day, Bella drives up to La Push to tell Jacob that the rangers are hunting for wolves, and to watch out. Also to confront him about his secret. They talk for awhile and she is relieved to know that the vampire Laurent is dead. But now Victoria is out to get her,but with her knowledge of vampires, she will help Jacob and his pack to track down Victoria and protect Bella. The following day, Bella meets the boys but Paul cant control his anger and fights with Jacob. Once that is over, they go to Sam's fiancees house, Emily's, and they discuss the vampires coming close and how its safer to stay in La Push. The more Jacob and Bella talk, the more they learn about the "secrets". She finds out about the development of a werewolf and talk about the Cullens powers. Lately, Jacob has been busy on red alert watching for Victoria. When he couldn't go cliff diving with Bella, Bella decided to go alone. She some how makes her way to the top of the cliff and does not know how to get back down. Its raining and a storm is coming but that doesn't stop her. Neither do the voices in her head from Edward. She gets sucked into the current and thinks she's going to drown. This is probably the stupidest decision Bella has ever made, and she should have just waited another time to go with Jacob when it would be safe. She is just stressed about everything going on and her not being able to be one of them.

Bella and Jacob have been visiting each other a ton. She starts hearing Edwards voice from now and then, telling her what to do. This is strange to her but she likes to hear it, knowing he is still there. So the next day, since the bikes are finally done, Bella and Jacob decide to take the bikes up to a path to ride them. Jacob tries explaining everything to Bella but she struggles to stay up on the bike and falls a few times. But one time she managed to stay upright but when she went around a corner, she flew off the bike with it landing on her. She was not prepared for the road to curve. She gets a huge cut on her head that was bleeding. She insisted that before Jacob is to take her to the hopsital, she needs a change of clothes so nothing is too suspicous to Charlie. Bella tells Charlie that she got the cut from hiking. The next day was valentines day. Bella becomes less miserable day by day. But she also stops hearing Edwards voice, which hurts her. She invites Jacob to go to a movie, a group movie with all of her friends. But in the end, it is only Bella, Jacob and Mike. Both boys want to make a move on her during the movie but she does not let this happen. Then Mike runs out of the movie into the bathroom. He ends up getting really sick and throwing up. The next day Bella waits for Jacob to call, but he never does. She calls his house but Billy reports that he is sick and cant talk at the moment. The next morning, Bella wakes up on the bathroom floor, she recieved the flu as well as the boys. Finally she is told that Jacob has mono and cant be visited for awhile. This hurts Bella because he is the one to brighten her days and the one she loves. (Although part of her heart will always belong to Edward). So Bella decides to go hiking. Not obeying Charlies rules. As she is in the woods she runs into Laurent (another vampire), and he reports that he is on a mission for Victoria, to basically kill her. She then starts hearing Edwards voice and he is telling her what to do. In seconds a pack of wolves show up to scare Laurent away. She escapes quickily and is luckily alive. She doesnt know how that all happened but she needs to stop going "hiking" and obey Charlie. Also, since she has not been able to get a hold of Jacob, she needs to find something else to brighten her day and keep her happy.

Bella changed completely. Ever since the Cullens departed, she hardly spoke and avoided everyone. This lasted for a very long time and Charlie (her father) started worrying and finally had the courage to say something to her. This is exactly what Bella did not want to hear but he took his advice and decided to talk to her friend Jessica the next day in class. Jessica was extremely surprised of Bella to do this but she insisted on going to a movie and dinner. So that is exactly what they did. Bella did not want to see a movie revolving around love and romance (because it would remind her too much of Edward), so they saw a movie about zombies. While they were at the movie, Bella kept having to get up, making excuses because Edward was on her mind. After the movie, they walked to McDonalds but Bella saw a group of guys in the bar across the street. They seemed so familiar to her and she left Jessica to see them. It ended up she did not know them and it was Bella was being really suspicious and on Jessica's nerves. They did not speak at all on the car ride home. The next day, Charlie was happier that Bella had went out for once and persuaded her to visit Jacob Black. Jacob is a family friend who is a freshman from La Push. I think this is a good idea for her because she needs to get away from her town and catch up with close friends. As Bella was driving around, she found two bikes that said FREE and needed some work. So she brought them up to Jacob's house and he said he could fix both of them. She would go up there a few times a week and watch him work on them and talk a lot. They became really close and always had a good time. He finally finished them and they drove an hour to go riding together. Ever since Bella started visiting Jacob, she has got her mind off Edward so much and been more cheerful. Her dreams even started to change for once since Edward left. Hopefully this will continue and Bella will regain all of her friends back.

For outside reading quarter four, I am reading the book New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. I have read the book Twilight so I decided to keep reading the series. When the book begins, Bella is not in a good mood. It was Bella's eighteenth birthday. She is now a year older than Edward. This makes her really sad knowing she will keep getting older but Edward will always be the same age. She also does not want to receive any presents, and celebrates her birthday at the Cullens which ends in a disaster. Bella gets injured and gets stitches from Carlisle without having to go to the hospital. The next day at school her arm is still sore and something seems wrong with Edward. Alice and Jasper had left and were not going to come back. She feels completely responsible for having the Cullens leave. So when Edward comes home with her they decide to go on a walk and he breaks the news to her that there whole family will be leaving. Edward was the one that had to stay in order to tell Bella. His reasoning does not assure Bella but Bella is heartbroken and wishes she could go with them. Edward refuses to let her come and they finally part. But Bella follows him into the woods and gets lost which causes Charlie to send out people to look for her. They finally find her and bring her home. She misses the Cullens so much. This book so far is depressing and the characters are not in the greatest moods. But I am excited to keep reading and finish the book.

New Moon

For our outside reading, quarter four, I chose to read the novel New Moon. This is the second book of the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. I had read the book Twilight before the movie came out, and loved it. I even read it in three days because I enjoyed it so much. So I went to see the movie opening night at midnight, but I thought the book was much better. My goal is to finish the Twilight series, so I decided to read New Moon. The movie for New Moon comes out in November and I am excited to see it and compare the movie to the book. Hopefully New Moon will bring me as thrilling and suspenseful as Twilight.

"Wounded vet goes from 'life slipping away' to soap opera star". CNN. 2008. 22 March 2009. http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/02/16/jr.martinez/index.html?iref=newssearch.

J.R. Martinez, 25, served in Iraq and returned back to Georgia with severe burns and a welcome home sign at Applebee's. He got these severe burns when driving a Humvee through a city, and the front left tire hit a land mine and he was trapped inside the vehicle. The other three guys walked away with minor injuries. While he was trapped in the vehicle, with his life slipping away, he thought of his mother(also best friend) being given a flag, but he did not want to put his mother though that. He had also thought of his sister, whom he had never met and passed away. He had an actual visual of his sister coming to him and telling him it was going to be OK and he would be fine. To me it seemed like J.R. always thought positively. He said, "to be strong and to hold on to certain things in life because they'll get you through". This is good advice and that is what got him through the situation he was in. He had lots of faith and just kept believing. Another obstacle he approaches is going into public and having to show his face while getting looks from everyone walking around. He mentions that, " It's one of those things where you've just got to get through it, and you've got to fight the obstacles and you've got to be strong". And this is true, it is what will get you through any situation. Now, he is starring in a soap opera "All My Children" and never ever believed he would ever be in one. This article can't completely relate to my life cause i have never been in such severe situation but he is someone to look up to knowing he goes through every day just being happy he survived and having hope.

As quoted from the Joe Jonas, "It's a better way for us to connect with our fans; we're all about getting closer wiht our fans. We watned to reach out to every city, but there's reasons beyond me why we're not". This shows their love and passion for their fans because they know that they are what gives them motivation day by day. The 3D concert movie was one of their accomplishments that was the second highest grossing concert film of all time. (Behind Miley Cyrus "Hannah Montana"). Their TV Series will be released in May and they are playing fictional characters and it will be the first time they're acting. I am one of the Jonas Brothers biggest fans so its nice to know that they love me. I have attended all of their concert performances here in Minnesota and one in Boston. I already have the tickets to their July 8th concert because of the Jonas Brothers fan club. I also attended the Jonas Brother 3D movie at midnight opening night! These boys really inspire and amaze me because I love everything they do and they are great role models. Everywhere the boys go, they play their hearts out and enjoy every second of life. I hope they will keep this up forever and always spread their love to their fans.

*there was a error with the HTML

In Kaul, Afghanistan, four American soldiers were killed in a roadside explosion. It was one of the worst of several attacks by insurgents around the country. The Taliban was responsible for this attack because they have been threatening these attacks against Afghan forces. Also, a suicide bomber blew himself up on a main road, killing two Afghan civilians and wounding nine others. The bomber had been standing outside a high school and had been planning to attack members of an Afghan intelligence security force. The people wounded were shopkeepers working in stores nearby and people passing in cars. A bystander said, When the smoke cleared, I saw my father, my brother and my uncle were lying on the ground and blood was pouring from their bodies." I think this is a very scary incident because it was very unexpected. It would be hard to live their knowing it might not always be safe where you live. The war in Iraq still continues today as one of the longest wars ever with many deaths.

Kimmelman, Michael. "In France, a War of Memories Over Memories of War." New York Times. 4 March 2009. 10 March 2009. .

The Wall of the Disappeared, located in France, is a large wall that lists the name of some 2,700 "pieds noirs". The term pieds noirs has to do something with black boots and came from Spain, Italy, Germany and other European countries. Then pieds noirs became French citizens when Algeria was under France's thumb. Soon after, Charles de Gaulle ended the colonial war with Algerian nationalists, where more than a million pieds noirs fled to cities. The people who stayed were massacred in places while others disappeared. These people were looking for hope and wanted rights among Africa and colonized in its colonies to promote these colonies fully developing. Later on, a series of wars approached because of the french government not supporting the citizens of France. This finally led to thousands of deaths which are shown on the Wall of the Disappeared. I think that this Wall is a great structure and a way for the people to die be remembered.

Sutter, John. "To find a job, ignore doom-and-gloom news, experts say." CNN. 6 March 2009. 8 March 2008. .

An economic crisis that is occurring today is a cut back on jobs. The unemployment rates continues to climb day by day. A chief executive reported that you need to block out the doom and good news about the economy and don't listen to it, saying that its not relevant to any one persons search. His advice was to go search for a job now. But that doesn't seem that easy. It is said that more jobs are available in health care, education, government and agriculture. These jobs are thought to be more stable than those failing in banking, manufacturing and construction.  Jennifer Grasz, from CareerBuilder.com, said that the highest rate of jobs listed on the site is in the South where health care and energy are leading the way. People should be open to moving in order to find a new job. One of the worst places to look for jobs is the Midwest where unemployment is high. This crisis is occurring everywhere not only in the U.S., but people need to look to industries that they think everyone would need even when their budgets have shrunk.

Boddy-Evans, Alistair. "South Africa's National Holidays."About. 5 Mar 2009. .

South Africa celebrates many different Holidays than America. Some holidays that South Africa celebrate are Human Rights Day, Freedom Day, Workers Day, Youth Day, National Women's Day, Heritage Day and Day of Reconciliation. Human Rights Day is making sure South African people are aware of their rights and ensure abuses never occur again. Freedom Day is when the first election was help and allowed all adults of any race to vote. Workers Day is to protest for better wages and working conditions. Youth Day is in honor of all the young people that lost their lives in the struggle against Apartheid and Banthu Education. National Women's Day is a reminder of the contribution women made to society. Heritage Day is the celebration of diversity. Finally, Day of Reconciliation is overcoming the conflicts of the past building a new nation. I think all these holiday are important days for South Africa to celebrate and everyone to appreciate. We have different holidays here in America too that we celebrate and enjoy just like they do in South Africa. I thought this was really interesting learning about what is important to there society.

Giridharadas, Anand. "Hollywood Starts Making Bollywood Films in India."The New York Times. 7 Aug 2007. 5 Mar 2009. .

For us, movies are just what we like to watch for entertainment or even a little laugher. For people in India, these are things they love to watch and cherish because some don't even have a television set so they only get to go to movies. A movie produced in India makes a lot of money. Since they make so much money, Bollywood films do not like this concept. Today, Hollywood producers are staring to create Bollywood films because of the passion that other people have for them. They think they can create a very realistic film. This puts Hollywood against India's own studios. The main features of a Bollywood film are dancing and singing. After watching the film Bride and Prejudice in class, I learned a lot about the "Bollywood" field and the competition there is between America and India. Competition is not bad, but it makes the producers work even harder to produce a fantastic film.

Freedman, Samuel. "In One Church, Confessions Makes a Comeback". NewYork Times. 20 February 2009. 24 February 2009. .

St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church pastured by Stephen DiGiovanni, brought back the idea of confession booths. When he entered the church, confessions were told in reconciliation rooms. These rooms were face to face confrontations between a member of the church and a priest. Man people thought that this was awkward and embarrassing and many either rarely did them or refused to do them in general. With the reintroduction of confession booths, about 450 people a week confess their sins to priests using this new way to confess sins. Sin confessing is available in five different languages. These languages are English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French. St. John's church is also trying to promote other churches to do the same so that people can more openly confess their wrongs they have committed. Some ways in which they are spreading the word is on highway billboards, radio commercials and handouts. They just question if the multimedia effort can change behavior on a grand scale.

Markandaya, Kamala. Nectar in a Sieve. United Kingdom: Signet Classic, 1954.

In the book Nectar in a Sieve, Rukmani and her family approach many changes. Rukmani experiences typical changes such as marrying a man she does not know, becomes a mother, has many children and learns to share limited resources with more people. But she also experiences change when the tannery comes. "Change I had known before, and it had been gradual... But the change that now came into my life, into all our lives, blasting its way into our village, seemed wrought in the twinkling of an eye"(25). This quote describes Rukmani's feelings about when the workers arrive to build the tannery and how it will effect their lives. She prefers the simpler way of life, she does not enjoy the difference the tannery made. She likes the peace and wants everything to go back to that. But, Ruku does learn to become adaptable and survives many hardships and learns that life brings. My grandparents are kind of like Rukmani and Nathan. They prefer the simpler way of making food, because they do not have a microwave. They also hardly ever use their cell phones. New technology does not give them much joy. But every person is different and may adapt differently.

We read the book Nectar in a Sieve in class. I think this book deals a lot with the topic of hope. Nathan and his family rely on hope to get them through difficult situations that arise in their daily lives. "For at least twenty-four days we shall eat, I thought. Al the end of that time--well, we are in God's hands. He will not fail us. Sometimes I thought that, and at other times I was seized with trembling and was frightened, not knowing where to turn"(79). In this quote, Rukmani is worried about the food supply. The family only has enough food for 24 days and once that is gone, they don't know where they will find a supply of food. They rely on hope to be able to survive and not struggle with starvation. In todays world, the economic situation is terrible and many have lost their jobs. They rely on hope to get them through this difficult period. Hopefully this economic situation will turn around.

This article is about Muslims first arriving in America and the ways they had to adjust when arriving here. One women talked about wearing her Muslim dress with a head scarf covering everything but her face. When she reached the Miami Airport, many people stared at her even through security check. One said, "I expected people to say, 'What is this terrorist doing here? We don't want your kind here,' " said Woldt, a 22-year-old blue-eyed Catholic, recalling her anticipation before stepping into a local barbecue joint. "I thought I wouldn't even be served." I think its weird how when someone dresses different or is from somewhere else, they are always looked at like they are a terrorist or what not. Usually they are not. From the quote, you can see that she wasn't treated like one. I think it is just hard for people to adjust and get started in new places. It's hard for everyone, including Muslims, to get accepted into other countries and practice their religion in different cultures.

This article is about schools recruiting dads to provide more support and be role models to students at the school. Most dads never volunteer in class, the moms are the ones always wanting to help out. Now they want more of the dads help. Volunteers involved in Watch DOGS (Dads Of Great Students) take one day off work and spend it at their kids' schools, helping out in the classroom and wherever help is needed. I think this is a great idea for more help and giving kids someone to look up to. When i was in elementary school, mainly all the volunteers were mothers. I liked the fact of mothers being there but fathers could give the boys a better influence in my opinion. I hope that more schools will do this and get more help from other watch DOGS.

A main source of living in Africa is rice production. It is their primary crop that helps them to gain money. It is also what stables the Senegalese diet. But after investing and borrowing to expand their production, the farmers also run the risk of being wiped out as food prices drop. When prices rose last year and countries stopped exporting, this country had no supply to replace it. They were left with no profit. This is because they are left to rely on their crops instead of money like the U.S. But high prices could make their crops competitive. The price of producing rice locally amde it more expenseve that imports as a result. Arona Diakhate said, “It simply didn’t pay to grow rice,” “Why grow something you can’t sell? It doesn’t make any sense.” This makes total sense in the fact that if you need money, you are not going to sell something that you know wont sell. Without production this year, workers would become poor with no land and no supply of crops. This could impact our world greatly.

"Farmers prepare for coldest day of winter in South Florida". Sunbeam Television Corp. Feb 3 2009. 2009. http://www1.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/MI111798/.

South Florida will be expecting Wednesday night to be the coldest day of the winter that could cause a growing problem for farmers with plenty of crops. Farmers are worried that as the temperatures drop into Thursday, their crops could be in great danger and that they could be wiped out. Since its the peak of the harvest season, they are trying their best to do whatever they can to protect their crops. Algers had said that if they don't have a product then it will affect the prices in food stores. This is something we do not want to happen. This difficulty relates a lot to the book Nectar in a Sieve that we are reading in class. But the struggle in that book is that they are working their hardest to get food for survival. They have to go through every day hoping they will have food and hoping that their crops will survive. Also, they struggle with being poor while the people here in South Florida are just at a point in time where crops are not at the best with the weather. We should just be happy that we are able to fix the problems more quickly than in other societies.

Alford, Roger. "KY guardsmen cut through trees downed by ice storm that's frozen state for nearly a week". Star Tribune. 1 Feb 2009. .

The biggest natural disaster for the state of Kentucky hit early last week. It was the hardest hit by the ice storm that paralyzed wide areas. The ice shattered utility poles, toppled trees and put thousands of homes to shelters. It would also take up to weeks for the power to be restored. Recovery would be a long process. Now, national guard troops are making their way into communities checking on residents, distribute food and water, remove fallen trees and go door-to-door in hard hit areas providing security. At least the ice is disappearing with the temperature in the 40s. For me, this would be devastating because its hard to live without power in your home. Well at least for me it is. When a storm hit Edina a few years ago, I remember going without power in my home for 3 days. That was hard because I wasn't able to do all the things I was used to doing. But that was only three days, and these residents in Kentucky may go for weeks. I hope that the guardsmen will help all the residents and resolve all the problems. Hopefully the state will be prepared for another incident like this.

I read an article titled "Drive train parts examined after death of 6-year-old boy in grandstands at Wash. state show", Associated Press. It was a sad and confusing Monster Jam show in Tacoma, Wash. friday night. A boy, Sebastian Hizey (6), was struck in the head by a Frisbee-sized chunk of metal that tore off a truck while doing doughnuts during the show. Police gathered loose parts of the drive train and drive loop to investigate. They said they have never seen the loop or drive shaft parts come off like this. The boys father, said that the truck had first failed to start and was hauled away by a forklift but it returned to the show and the metal ring flew from under the truck as it was spinning in circles in the mud. Sadly, his son passed away. Another spectator was struck by debris and was taken to the hospital, but no further descriptions of him are listed. The Monster Jam show continued through the two Saturday shows, but with a moment of silence before each one. Hopefully these problems will be solved for no more future freak accidents.

Sheldon Cohen said, "The longer you sleep, the better off you are, the less susceptible you are to colds". So the more hours of sleep you get, the lower the chance of catching a cold. Researchers paid healthy adults $800 to have cold viruses sprayed up their noses and wait in a hotel for five days to see if they got sick. The eight hour sleepers were much less likely to get sick than those who slept for less that seven hours. Also, people who slept less than seven hours a night in the weeks before they became exposed to the virus, were three time likely to catch a cold that the ones who slept longer. Overall, one should get sleep to avoid becoming sick.

I read an article titled Misbehaving teens may be at risk for major adulthood problems by Elizabeth Landau. The article talked about that people who displayed behavioral problems as teens are likely to develop mental problems in adulthood. A study looked at 3500+ people from teen years to the age of 40 and studied their behaviors. People from the age of 13-15 behavior issues included disobedience, lying, lack of punctuality, restlessness, truancy, daydreaming in class and poor response to discipline. These issues are said to may cause more serious problems dealing with social relationships, the ability to maintain good mental health, stable employment and a happy family life. It also said some teens who had moderate problems were likely to leave school early because of teenage pregnancy and later in life have an increased likelihood of divorce, alcohol abuse and life adversity. But all of these results do not mean that teenage behavioral issues with cause complications in later life. There is just a possible chance it might.

Title: Take a Bow, Mr. Plow
Author: Debbie Musser

Would you ever think of entering a Snowplow Rodeo? Sounds a little crazy. Mike Schmidt is a street maintenance worker for the city of Eden Prairie. Everyday at 3a.m., he gets up and gets in his 30,000-pound truck and starts plowing. He is most comfortable behind the wheel of his snowplow he said though. He has been in the Snowplow Rodeo many times. It is a statewide competition held in St. Cloud and tests the skills of 110 drivers from around Minnesota. The drivers go through many obstacles and don't know the snowplow they will use until right before they perform. This makes things difficult for the drivers. But luckily, Schmidt has placed twice in first place, and once in second, fourth and eighth. When plowing the roads, the weather conditions can determine how long they plow. If it is an all day snow, they could snow till 5p.m., stopping to let residents get home to rest. Traffic also contributes to the plowing times. Some drivers get very anxious to pass plowers. But mainly, from Schmidt's point of view, snow plowers enjoy their job and make the best of it. If it wasn't for them, there would be many more car accidents happening throughout the world.

I read an article titled "2 Minnesota snowmobilers, lost on Colorado trail, rescued" bye Mary Jane Smetanka. Two men, John Rocky(49) and his son TJ(20) were snowmobiling in the area of the Never Summer Wilderness Area which is off limits to snowmobilers. They simply got lost. They were stranded for 15 hours waiting for rescuers to come find them. The 2 men sent a text message to family members which was forwarded to a command post 10 miles away which plotted their location. Rescuers searched from midnight-4am for them and suspended there search to daytime. Then stranded men were found the next day around 1pm Minnesota time with only a few bruises. They were exhausted and hungry but in good spirits. Snowmobile emergencies are common said McCutcheon (Ranger from Mtn National Park). Hopefully people can learn lessons from these incidents and be careful when snowmobiling.

The article I read was titled 'Marley' on top for second straight week by Nicole Sperling. The moive Marley and Me was a big draw to the new year. It came in with the number one slot adding $24.1 million to the box. The movie's total take stands with $106.5 million. The box office was strong with an estimated 7 percent comparing to the 2008 New Years weekend. There were movies for everyone at the theaters. Marley and Me for families, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for drama, Valkyrie for suspense, and finally Bedtime Stories for a kid flick. Critics disliked the movie Bedtime Stories but viewers seemed the opposite. Also Jim Carey's comedy, Yes Man, rounded the top 5 adding $13.9 milion to the Warner Brothers film's earnings. Overall, the movies have been very successful lately and it has been a great start to the new year.
